气候变化对西藏自治区黑颈鹤越冬期潜在适生区的影响

Impact of climate change on potential suitable habitats of Grus nigricollis during wintering period in Xizang

  • 摘要: 气候变化带来的栖息地丧失和破碎化可能会威胁野生动物的生存。黑颈鹤(Grus nigricollis)是中国国家一级保护动物,也是中国唯一终生生活在高原湿地的鹤类。研究当代和未来气候变化下黑颈鹤适生区分布格局的变化规律,对于黑颈鹤及其栖息地的保护和管理具有重要意义。本研究基于2021—2023年冬季西藏自治区黑颈鹤野外调查数据,利用MaxEnt模型预测了当代和未来气候情景下西藏自治区黑颈鹤越冬期的潜在适生区(AUC均值为0.978)。预测结果表明,最湿月降水量(26.5%)和最暖月最高气温(21.1%)是影响黑颈鹤分布的关键因子,等温性、降水变异系数、平均日较差和最干月降水量等因子也具有显著影响。当代西藏自治区黑颈鹤越冬期适生区总面积为43 259 km2,占西藏自治区总面积的3.60%,高适生区主要集中分布在雅鲁藏布江中游河谷地区。在2021—2040年和2041—2060年的3种气候情景下(SSP1-2.6、SSP2-4.5和SSP5-8.5),黑颈鹤越冬期适生区面积均不断扩大,新增区域主要分布在当前适生区周围及西藏东部湿地和阿里地区。此外,质心迁移结果表明,随着气候变暖,黑颈鹤越冬期适生区的分布质心沿西北方向向高纬度和高海拔地区迁移。本研究评估了气候变化对西藏自治区黑颈鹤越冬期栖息地的影响,为制定黑颈鹤保护措施和栖息地管理提供了科学依据。

     

    Abstract: Habitat loss and fragmentation caused by climate change may threaten the survival of wildlife and have become important concerns in biodiversity conservation. The Black-necked Crane (Grus nigricollis) is a national first-class protected animal in China and is also the only crane species that lives year-round in plateau wetlands. Therefore, investigating the changes in the distribution pattern of suitable habitats for G. nigricollis under current and future climate change is of great significance for the conservation and management of this species and its habitats. Based on winter field survey data of G. nigricollis collected in Xizang Autonomous Region from 2021 to 2023, this study used the MaxEnt model to predict the potential suitable habitats of G. nigricollis during the wintering period under current and future climate scenarios in Xizang Autonomous Region. The model performed well, with a mean AUC value of 0.978. The prediction results showed that precipitation of the wettest month (26.5%) and maximum temperature of the warmest month (21.1%) were the key factors affecting the distribution of G. nigricollis. In addition, isothermality, precipitation seasonality, mean diurnal range, and precipitation of the driest month also had significant effects on its distribution during the wintering period. Under current climatic conditions, the total suitable habitat area for G. nigricollis during the wintering period in Xizang Autonomous Region was 43 259 km2, accounting for 3.60% of the total area of the region. Highly suitable habitats were mainly concentrated in the middle reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River valley, indicating that this area is currently the main concentration zone of wintering habitats for the species in Xizang. Under future climate scenarios (SSP1-2.6, SSP2-4.5, and SSP5-8.5) for the periods 2021—2040 and 2041—2060, the suitable habitat area for G. nigricollis during the wintering period showed a continuous expansion trend. The newly added suitable areas were mainly distributed around the current suitable habitats, and were also found in the wetlands of eastern Xizang and the Ali Region. In addition, the centroid migration results showed that, with climate warming, the centroid of suitable wintering habitats for G. nigricollis would shift northwestward to areas of higher latitude and higher elevation. Overall, this study provides a quantitative assessment of the impacts of climate change on the wintering habitat of the Black-necked Crane in Xizang Autonomous Region. Our findings offer a scientific basis for identifying future conservation priorities, optimizing habitat protection strategies, and improving adaptive management for this iconic alpine wetland species under ongoing climate change.
